Claudia Westermann studied architecture at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and the University of Tampere, Finland. Diploma in architecture (Dipl. Ing. Architekt). Licensed member of the German Chamber of Architects. Additional postgraduate studies in the field of Media Fine Arts at the HfG (Hochschule für Gestaltung) at the ZKM in Karlsruhe. Since 2003 Claudia Westermann has been a member with the Center of Advanced Inquiry in Integrative Arts (CAiiA) at the Planetary Collegium, University of Plymouth, UK, conducting a transdisciplinary research in the field of art, science and technology. A thesis with the title "An Experimental Research into Inhabitable Theories" was submitted in February 2011. Claudia Westermann's works have been exhibited and presented internationally including at the Venice Biennale for Architecture, the Architectural Association (AA) in London, the Moscow International Film Festival, Isea Symposium for the Electronic Arts in Japan, the ZKM in Karlsruhe - Germany, the International Festival of Cinema and Technology in New York - USA, the Ciberart Symposium in Bilbao - Spain and the Consciousness Reframed Conference in Beijing - China. She regularly contributes to conferences worldwide and has been published internationally. From 2006 to 2010 she held the position of a senior lecturer in architectural design at the Vienna University of Technology, Austria (Univ.Ass. postdoc, Institut f. Gebäudelehre). |
